All students will be issued with a new Athens account where the username incorporates the new student ID, and the password is randomly generated. For example, where the student ID is B12345678 the Athens username will be paiB12345678. To find out the new Athens details students should check their university email boxes where there will be an email from Athens containing these details. There is a link to the university email from the Student Support page. To log in to the university email the username is the student ID (e.g. B12345678) and the password matches the password for the student network on campus. (If you have never logged in to the campus student network the password will be your date of birth in ddmmyy format). Old-style Athens accounts will all be deleted by 30th September.
An Athens personal account, which is available free to staff and students, is required to access many of the databases and electronic journals to which the library subscribes. All students have an account created automatically from enrolment details and the account expires at the end of the academic year. An email message is sent to the student's university email box giving details of the Athens username and password which has been created for them.
Academic staff who require an Athens account should contact the Library.
The Resources pages on the library website list all the electronic journals, books and databases which you can access. Those which require an Athens account for access have this information displayed alongside them. You will be prompted to enter your Athens details when you try to access one of these services.
Alternatively, you can log onto your MyAthens page. Once logged on you will be able to browse through a list of all the Athens authenticated resources to which Paisley University has access.
